What Happens Next? | If You Need A Loan For Care | If You Receive NZ Super | Further Questions

You will need to get in touch with a needs assessor in your area. When you have been assessed as requiring residential care, your needs assessor will complete the front page of the application and then give it to you (or a person acting for you) to complete.

Once the form has been completed, send it to Work and Income NZ along with proof of your income and assets.

The address:
Residential Care Subsidy
Department of Work and Income
Private Bag 9032
Whangarei

Work and Income NZ will determine if you qualify for a Residential Care Subsidy, based on the income and assets criteria.

There is an additional section in your application you need to complete. If you qualify, you will also have to sign a loan agreement. Your solicitor should be able to help you with this.

This will continue between the time you apply and the time you start receiving the Residential Care Subsidy.

If you have any further questions about the Residential Care Subsidy or getting a loan for your residential care, contact Work and Income NZ, by phoning 0800 999 727, or contacting your nearest Work and Income NZ service centre.
